Tanzanians get on their bikes for 10-10-10

Hundreds of cyclists and tricyclists took to the streets of Dar es Salaam this weekend as part of the 10-10-10 global day of action to tackle climate change. People taking part called on Tanzanians to travel by bicycle in order to reduce carbon emissions. They also urged world leaders to cut their emissions, and for rich nations to assist the poorest to adapt to the increasing impacts of climate change. It was a lo-oong ride around Dar on a hot day! The event was organised by UWABA (Umma Wa Wapanda Baiskeli – Swahili for the ‘Community of those who ride bicycles’) and ForumCC (the Tanzanian Civil Society Forum on Climate Change, which Oxfam supports).
