Regional Programme Manager (East Asia) REF INT5010

The Role

This senior management role is responsible for driving programme strategy and quality across the Asia region. Through strong leadership, rooted in an in-depth understanding of programmes, you will work closely with, and as part of, the Regional Management Team and Country Directors to support the delivery of high quality and impactful country programmes. You will directly manage Country Directors in Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will be critical to shaping and defining the long term vision for the Asia region, working with others to create an environment which celebrates innovation, delivers new funding opportunities and strengthens Oxfam internal systems.

The Requirements
To meet the challenge, you’ll need leadership experience in a similarly complex and dispersed organisation. Solid financial and people management skills are clearly essential as is a wide range of programme development and implementation experience at senior levels. Just as important will be your excellent all-level communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. You’ll be pro-active with a results-focused approach. Experience of working in Asia is crucial, especially within East Asia in particular.

Regional Research Coordinator (REF INT5022)

The Role
We want to strengthen the support we give to our country programmes and across the region through research-based strategy and policy papers. Acting as a thought leader and collaborating with influential local research institutions, you’ll produce and manage multi-country research that strengthens our strategic thinking and helps us make a bigger difference. You’ll be monitoring major trends in the region, building the research skills of our country teams, agreeing research priorities as well as developing research methodology and design on poverty and inequality.

The Requirements
To meet the challenge, you need to be strong and innovative thinker. You’ll have a broad understanding of the major economic, social, humanitarian and poverty issues in the Asia region. Experience of working across the Asia region is a must. It’ll be your minimum of 5 years of research experience of managing research projects and other researchers – especially in collaboration with research organisation – and your ability to produce outstanding written reports that will stand you in good stead in supporting our programmes across the region. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.

Regional Information Systems Manager (REF INT5025)

The Role
Technical infrastructure, including PC and communications equipment networks. Operating systems. Application software. Systems implementation. Learning & Development. You’ll own the seamless delivery of them all. It will be down to you to build a thorough understanding of the needs of the business. Then you’ll plan and manage how our IT resources and services are allocated, making sure they’re used to best effect. Leading a small team of specialists and making appropriate use of suppliers, you’ll support end users through a Service Desk, ‘Fix on Fail’ and preventive maintenance. And as the local ambassador for IS standards and systems, you’ll champion a culture that’s cost-benefit conscious. At every stage we’ll look to you for specialist advice, strategic thinking and a balanced view of both IS and business objectives.

The Requirements
An IT expert with a strong knowledge of core IT processes, you’ll have skills that encompass networks, servers, PCs and software. More than that though, you’ll have good people skills. Not only will you work well in a team, you’ll know how to lead one. And, as you’ll be the linchpin between IS and the rest of the business, you’ll certainly have shown you can build relationships at all levels. We’ll also look for the ability to influence, negotiate and persuade, and to drive projects through to completion. Add plenty of initiative, determination and multicultural sensitivity, and you could soon be helping us to help millions of others.

Regional Finance Coordinator (REF INT5023)

The role
Reporting to the Regional Finance Manager, you’ll control all the region’s day-to-day financial operations. That means taking responsibility for everything from training Programme Offices on our financial systems and procedures to reviewing monthly accounts and financial reports. It’ll be down to you to oversee periodic reconciliations, make sure we comply with regulations and deal with any variances or non-compliance issues. A focal point for regional forecasting and monitoring, you’ll get involved in developing strategy, setting targets and influencing policies too. And at every stage, our
Finance managers and other senior staff will rely on you to interpret financial information, offer sound, in-depth advice and maintain a detailed overview of how money is being spent right across the region.

The Requirements
Obviously you’ll have a strong financial accounting background, including experience at a management level, plus a keen eye for detail. More than that though, you’ll know how to interpret policy and put it into practice and you’ll have proved you can come up with solutions to financial problems. What’s more you’ll be as talented with words as you are with numbers – good at making complex concepts simple to understand and at winning others round to your point of view. Add excellent team working, analytical and networking skills plus plenty of initiative, and you could soon be making a difference to an organisation that makes a difference to millions.
