Humankind Index – public consultation

Click here to share what matters to you, and to help shape the future of Scotland

Everyone needs enough money to buy life’s basics, but few really believe that, on its own, cash is enough.

That’s why Oxfam Scotland wants to create a new way of measuring what makes a good life: one that takes money into account, but also recognises that it takes more than just economic growth to make a prosperous nation.

This is not about academics or NGOs sitting around in a room and deciding what prosperity means for Scotland. We’re launching a wide-ranging consultation, up and down the country, to gather the thoughts, views and priorities of the Scottish people. We’re asking people what makes a difference to their prosperity, what are the most important impacts on their lives, and what people need to live well in their communities.

Public participation in creation of the Humankind Index is absolutely central. It means that the Index will be based on the values of a society rather than the views of an elite – which is where YOU come in.

Let us know what matters to you. Our online consultation takes just ten minutes, and will be a vital means for us to collect people’s point of view.
