Malcolm Torry

The Citizen’s Income Trust was established in 1984 ( - then it was known as the Basic Income Research Group) to promote debate on the feasibility of a Citizen’s Income. It has an active group of trustees, and currently the (voluntary) director is Dr. Malcolm Torry. His interest in the tax and benefits system started when he worked for the Department of Health and Social Security during the 1970s. During the early ‘80s he was curate of the parish in which the DHSS had its headquarters, and since then has continued to serve in the Church of England’s full-time ministry and has maintained an active interest in the reform of tax and benefits. He has a M.Sc. in social policy from the London School of Economics.
