I am a full time volunteer at Rainbow Haven, a community centre for refugees, asylum seekers and migrant workers in Manchester. I was placed there through Jesuit Volunteer Communities http://www.jvcbritain.org/Jesuit_Volunteer_Community,_Britain/Home.html whose volunteers work with marginalised groups and reflect on social justice. At Rainbow Haven I have been doing some development work, organising events and activities, and training as an advice worker. Marianne is also a volunteer with JVC, and is also training as an advice worker. She has been working at a drop in centre for vulnerable adults and at a night shelter which is often used by refused asylum seekers as it is one of the few places they can stay without housing benefit.
