Do watch this video of Oxfam’s Kate Wareing facing BBC Newsnight’s first incarnation of their rather imposing ‘Star Chamber’, to defend current benefit levels in UK and argue for meaningful and positive reform of the UK’s welfare system.
I thought it was really heartening to see considerable bi-partisan acceptance on the panel of the principle of reforming the system and investing through it strategically to enable people to escape the poverty traps that exist in our current system.
Obviously I also thought Kate’s performance was brilliant!
