I timed the lessons to coincide with the Copenhagen summit. Please watch the film too and consider the needs of the worlds poorest people in your negotiations.

Watch this video. Perhaps it reminds you of floods here in the UK? Climate change is affecting people all over the world, and if we won’t do anything about it to help people in Bangladesh, at least let’s do something to help ourselves! We need to act now though, because the people in Bangladesh are already dying from climate change – this is no longer something distant in the future, this is here and now.

I do not want to see any more people hurt in the world due to my actions and the actions of my country. I want to help them instead but to do that I need your help, as I can’t do it alone. So please, try and negotiate for a fair deal at Copenhagen this week. For our country and for places like one shown in the video. One day our country will be faced with nature just like in the video. We need to act now.

I believe the big changes we need to make will not only heal our planet, But will also help to heal our lifes and communities. We live in a wonderful free society – I’m free to eat as much rubbish food as I like. I’m free to drive the biggest gas guzzling motor as far as I like. I’m free to throw away as much as I like. I’m free to wear a t shirt in my own home when it’s freezing outside and keep warm by turning the thermostate up. I’m happy for you to make some really brave decisions and maybe even take some of my freedom away, which could ultimately make me, less greedy, healthier and fitter. BUT IT WILL TAKE A SPECAIL PERSON WITH A VISION AND GUTS TO BRING ABOUT THE CHANGES NEEDED Is that you? I’ve never wished to be at a demonstration, I don’t like them, But I’m going with my 11 year old daughter to the wave on Saturday.

Watch this video. Open your eyes. This is not an all action Blockbuster movie that is guaranteed a dramatic though happy ending. One where America inevitably saves the day, and the world (of course). No this is what happens when the greedy West turns a blind eye to what it is doing to the planet. Disasters are not exclusive to developing countries, they will start affecting us too someday soon. Wake up and make the necessary commitment to cutting carbon emmissions. We can see the inevitable…why won’t you???????????

Please watch this video and argue for these people at the Copenhagen talks. We try to live simply, to be efficient with our energy use and to do what ever we can to prevent climate change. Please watch this video. I know you are going to have a tough time negotiating for an acceptable deal for those who are worst affected by climate change, and that that deal might not be popular with some members of the UK electorate. These videos show how little that popularity matters. People lives & families & homes & livelihoods – their everythings – are at stake. I was in Bangladesh last year and saw some of the devastation caused by Cyclone Sidr. It terrified me, just as a tourist. Please use the advantage of your position courageously & boldly. You have the power. Billions of people are counting on you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter to you. If you could just watch this video and then decide if the risk we, as a wealthier, developed nation, are taking by ignoring the signs of more frequent, dangerous freak weather changes in our poorer, less developed neibours, that are killing hundreds of thousands every year and leaving even more without family and homeless, is worth it, then just continue behaving as you already are, or alternatively, make the right decision. One that will give the less indulged of the human race a chance to speak out in life, because without people like you or me, they will never get a chance to speak out and say what is right, because they are the ones that are being struck by climate change first, because they do not have the access to equipment or technology to prepare themselves against the dangers of freak weather conditions like floods or cyclones.
Speak up for yourself, for your country, for your rights, for those who don’t have any rights.
Thank you

I live in northern Canada, so I’m already seeing its effects — hotter summers, more forest fires, warmer winters, changing plant and animal habitat and reproduction cycles, profound change for Inuit and First Nations peoples.
But I’m lucky. I live in the developed world, where at least we have some resources to deal with climate change. These people in Bangladesh, like all the poor people of the world, don’t. YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO ACT FOR THEM, AND FOR THE PLANET.

You will be struck with compassion.
It’s sad to see that we have the knowledge to fight against climate change; that we have the technology to reduce the emissions of CO2, to recycle and reuse materials and electrical appliances. There are thousands of appropriate ecologic technologies that would help to reduce our CO2 footprint but the ones that have to commercialize these products and technologies and make the available to everyone don’t care about the environment and the health of our society, the only thing that matters for them is the benefits they can obtain.
Dear people, you may thing that by increasing your wealth, by having the biggest house, the newest car, the last technologies you will be happier and more respectable but what you don’t realize is that what makes you happy is to have people that love and care about you, to feel the gratitude of people you have been able to help, to enjoy the weather and the nature around you; all the rest is fake as the capitalist society you live in.
Climate change may not affect you directly now but its killing people every day, people who probably haven’t done anything to produce these disasters are suffering the consequences of our actions and decisions.
This world needs a change and it needs you to make it possible!!

Its not fair that we, the UK, aren’t doing enough to help the environment because as yet it isn’t affecting us, but in this video its clearly shown that climate change is majorly affecting people across the world.

These people’s futures as well as our own are in your hands. Good luck with the negotiations-we’re all behind you!
Watch this video. I trust it will bring some awareness of the very real impacts climate change is having on the local lives and environments at this moment in time.
I urge you to watch this video, since it underlines the desperate need for coherent action now, in order to avert mass human catastrophe. That it takes until a few hours before disaster hits before anyone alerts the locals or advises that they leave is shocking and terrible. Here in the West the public inquiry into the failings of the system alone would run into millions of pounds. Please can we look outside the box, please can we act, when it is in your backyard it will be too late!
Please think about the current negotiations from the perspective of those suffering from the effectsof Climate Change. This video can give you some insight, especially the ‘bodies found’ section.

This video is a clear indication of the havoc we are wreaking upon this planet and the poorer nations who are already being severely affected. Take action now, before it is too late.
Climate change is the biggest threat to global peace and wellbeing since the second world war. This is just like 1938, we are well aware of the storm coming, but this time we must not just stand there with heads in the sand pretending it isn’t happening. We MUST choose to do something about it. You MUST MUST MUST reach an agreement in Copenhagen to start CO2 reductions NOW. Not after the next treaty, not next decade, not even next year, but NOW. If you come back from this meeting without such an agreement, then you will have let down the whole world. This issue is more important than politics, more important than budgets or power or anything else. It is our utmost duty to protect the planet for future generations. The Earth does not belong to us, we are merely this set of custodians. If we do not act right now and fix this problem, our current children and all future generations will curse our memories. If that takes mobilising the country as if on a war footing, then let’s get on with it.
No more procrastination. Action, now!
Regards
David Green, Bristol
Nothing but nothing is more important than this deal. Make it something you can tell your grandchilden you were proud to be a part of.
Everyone should watch this as part of the human race. Surely you can spare the time as one of the key negotiators?
This video makes me feel sad and guilty. Leaders, please help.
You guys have the power to change the lives of so many…its all on you to take the right decision…Help them!! they need it…they need HELP!!
This video really underlines the human cost of climate change. We have a responsibility as a rich nation and high carbon emitter to ensure the developing world gets a fair deal at Copenhagen.
I dont understand why when the evidence is overwhelming Ed Milleband and Dave Cameron can not convince their own party to support action in their own domain, the HofC and further afield.
The pictures show what will repeatedly and more frequently happen in 50 or 100 years. It takes 4 miles to turn around a huge cargo ship at seaa, it’s no wonder that it takes 100 years to turna round climate change.
In a disaster Movie we see the Goodies running around attempting to avert a disaster in 24 or 48 hours and applaud; we can not see that our actions now are similarly vital.
We will so wish we had campaigned harder when we see the impact on our grandchildren. we are not atempting to save the planet, but save millions of humankind.
God Bless Oxfam workers who see this and work tirelessly for remedies.
Ozzie
This is not a hypothetical problem in some distant, unforeseeable future. People are suffering now, and if there’s something we can do to help then we must.
If we don’t take action now, it might be too late… being the more privileged members of the society, we all have the responsibility to help those who are not as fortunate.
Just because this is happening the other side of the world and not to us we should not ignore their suffering and let it continue. Please take action now!
It is not fair that some people have to pay with their lives so someone else can enjoy luxury. You are oblivious of this suffering today, because today it does not effect you, but tomorrow it will. The climate change will not stop at the shore of the poor countries. It will hit you one day and you will regret that you did not make the decision to save this planet while you still had the chance.
This video is only warning to those living a more privileged life, what is coming there way, and how they will have to pay in full for all the luxuries they have enjoyed.
Now is the time to decide if you want to sustain mother earth or destroy it. Unfortunately those who are concerned most, their decision don’t count in this dollar-driven era. So, we plea to the sensible persons who have the power to make the money-hungry industries causing these disasters to listen.
Mahatma Gandhi said, ” the world provides enough for human kinds need, but it will never be able to provide for human kinds greed”. It’s only greed that is slow-poisoning this beautiful planet, the only planet where we can survive. So think again, do you really need that sports car or you are just satisfying your greed??
Thank you!
Please, this is my country. Lots of people are dying or getting uprooted there like this every year. And I’m sure the same picture will be found in other countries, too. Please, help stop climate change.
this heartrending video is just one snapshot of what is happening all over the world (El Salvador to-day) and will get worse and worse if you cannot achieve a truly fair deal at Copenhagen
Come on, this is the last chance to halt climate change. If you don’t take it now your descendants will loathe you.
This video made me feel privileged to be protected by strong brick walls, and never to have experienced the fear that my whole life will be washed away. This brings home the impacts that our carbon-hungry lives are having on others – let’s sort it at Copenhagen! This is not the time to worry about protecting our own interests; it’s a time to face up to our responsibilities so that we can look people in Banlgadesh and elsewhere in the eyes and say that we genuinely are doing everything we can. Half measures are not good enough – a halfway deal is not good enough – we need a binding and ambitious deal, now!
Time to take action to help prevent this
We, relishing all comfort of carbon expensive urban lifestyle, never think about the situation of the people affected by this kind of disaster. But it may come to us some day, this way or the other, in the form of earthquake if not hurricane.
Please put yourself into their shoes and try to understand the adversity they go through in their everyday life, even though by no way they are responsible for it.
TAKE CONCRETE ACTION; NOW.
Images like those we have seen from Gabura have also been seen in the last few months in the Philippines, Vietnam and Cambodia, seeing the loss of lives and livelihoods of many. As if this weren’t enough, all the indications are that these kind of climate events will be seen increasingly in the developed world. Will it take devastation to property across the South East of England in the future for people to act, or can we act now to try and do something to minimise the very real suffering of the people who are being affected by climate change this very minute? Please… do all you can to secure a fair deal on climate change to benefit those who can’t speak up for themselves.
Imagine living with this level of vulnerability, day in, day out. You never know when disaster will strike and smash up all your hard work, pushing more of your family into poverty and sickness.
We need you to show your humanity and fight for a safe and fair deal at Copenhagen.
Just imagine if you had to explain to these people in Gabura that a totally solvable political standoff meant more delays to a deal on climate change. Imagine this is your own family and community. What would you say?
Come on, you have a huge responsibility and the power to deliver. This is your opportunity to act and we’re behind you!
This video shows that we don’t have time to delay any longer. We need an ambitious deal and we need it now!
Watch these videos to see the impact of climate change on the world’s poorest people. Climate isn’t something happening in 20 or 30 years – it’s bringing devastation to communties like Gabura right now.
This video is just a small portrayal of what people all over the world have to deal with – climate change is affecting people and planet, and it will only get worse unless you do something about it now!
Please watch this video about my fellow Bangladeshis, whose lives are destroyed all-too often by the effects of climate change. The future of my country, and many others, rests in the balance.
we are not alone, Act now for beautiful planet just Be Veg.
Please make a difference at Copenhagen not only for the sake of the people who live in vulnerable areas like Gabura but for us all
bold action now is needed if we are to share any compassion for all humanity, particularly those who happen to be born in low-lying lands and to be less economically fortunate than ourselves
Be bold and take action
This short video is powerful in its impact because it shows the people and area just a day before the disaster struck. It shows how things unfold and that the people of the area had no idea how bad the cyclone would be, and they had little chance or means to escape the effects of the storm. You should watch it.
It is a disgrace and a shame that we, the industrialized nations, are destroying the future of the next generations on the planet due to our greedy and politicians incapacity to address the problem.
Great documentary, very moving!
This film shows the beginning of a process that can’t be stopped but can be delayed and diverted but only if you and others like you take radical action now. I know you understand the science and we both know that won’t stop for political machinations. Please seal the international agreements we all need in Copenhagen; another year’s delay will kill thousands
Climate Change is a life or death issue for many people around the world. Do watch this video to help you press for a safe & fair deal at Copenhagen-good luck with the negotiations.
This film is a direct report from the frontline of climate change. Its message must be heeded.
Watch these videos to see how climate change is already hitting the poorest people around the world – and why they need urgent action in Copenhagen this December.
You cannot ignore the pain and suffering that the people in these very moving films are feeling. The subject of climate change cannot be put on the back shelf.
If this video does not hit one on the head about the urgency for a global climate accord in Copenhagen, I wouldn’t know what will!
This video shows only the smallest fraction of the changes occuring all over the world. Experiencing Hurricanes is one thing I have done in my sheltered life and that was in the safety of a concrete house a.k.a. a bunker. To imagine what it would be like with little or no shelter is terrifying.
It is easy to push these thoughts aside in the safety of your home away from the epicenter. I would hope that no-one would wish this on any one person or people. Therefore if you can help then do so… Morality is what makes us human and actions should be taken to do the right thing! that is all…
“Do the right thing!
Act now! “
There can’t be anymore delays. Remember the people in this video and all the other lives already affected and start acting accordingly.
The solutions to this problem exist. Watch this video and remember people like these as you negotiate. You can make a difference.
Stop delaying and arguing over details. Watch this video, have a think, then ACT!
Make a difference.
So sad to see this, very powerful and heartrending ..
Do the right thing.
Touching video. These effects are just the start. More is on the way. It’s vital that countries in denial (mostly US, China, India) agree there is a problem and come to the table to negotiate. YES, USA and the West played a large part in getting us here, but now we are all in the same boat, and we must find an equitable and practical way forward. And this must be fair to countries such as Bangladesh who have low per-capital carbon footprints.
This documentary to me shows that we need to act now on climate change. Please do something to get a deal at Copenhagen!
This video shows the scary but true human impact of climate change – it is real and is affecting millions of poor people. It’s time to make the big decisions & help these people survive current & imminent climatic changes. Thank you.
True and moving, I hope the negotiators take note. We can change this.
The video is so powerful. Please listen.
