Aid direct; health and climate change; Krugman on Gordon Brown; wastepickers as entrepreneurs and a sweet climate change youtube for Copenhagen: links I liked
Owen Barder muses on the pros and cons of giving aid directly v via governments, while over on Global Dashboard, Alex Evans wonders if the next new thing in aid will be the kind of internet-based ‘many to many’ linking of individual donors to individual recipients pioneered by Kiva
The Lancet medical journal has teamed up with some health heavyweights from University College London to produce ‘Managing the health effects of climate change’
Paul Krugman gives his take on the crisis afflicting Gordon Brown on and concludes ‘While Mr. Brown and his party may deserve to be punished, their political opponents don’t deserve to be rewarded.’
Why being officially recognized as ‘entrepreneurs’ (rather than reviled as scavengers) could help thousands of Colombian wastepickers
And finally, my favourite entry to a recent Oxfam competition on climate change for young film makers

An interesting review of Kiva, puncturing some of the myths – and underlining basic truths about the impact of Northern trends on organically growing local development. Like web2.0, the best Aid 2.0 will build on Aid 1.0, not lay claim to the wheel.
